Turmeric benefits and the success of "Voices of the River"

Oct 07, 2012

The best ingredient to add to your diet.

I have been adding Turmeric to my home-made salsa, curries, stir-frys, stews, and soups. My friend John said that it needs to be in our diet consistently to have effect so I find ways to add Turmeric to my diet.

"Tumeric is amazing!
I've been taking liquid for 3 months now and feel better than I have in 20 years and almost all Celiac disease symptoms are GONE!!! And I lost 10 lbs! That wasn't really a goal - but I'm not complaining! :)

Have a look at this - only liquid form in Canada that I can find other than going to a Natruapath and getting injections of it ...

It's not cheap, but it works!

Hello Mid Islanders

I would like to thank all of the businesses and individuals who helped me make my latest film ‘Voices of the River’ a reality both through financial contributions and volunteer efforts. This is a local interest story about a very important part of our local environment and it needed local participation and support to make it happen.  Both of the September 21st screenings sold out but there will be other screenings in the near future for those that missed the premiere. I have donated copies of the film to the local public libraries. There will also be a copy available at the VIU library and there are copies for sale at Fascinating Rhythm or online at

I would like to thank the following individuals and businesses for major contributions to the film: Gary Prendergast, Daniel Hanneson, David Stanley, Ria De Vos, RBC, Mid Island Coop, The Land Conservancy (TLC), Jim and Eva Manly, West Coast Helicopters, Vancouver Island Real Estate Board, Vancouver Island University (VIU), the VIU Student Union, Romper Room, Synergy Magazine, the Life House, Cindy Williams, NALT and Coastland Industries. There is also a long list of individuals who made smaller contributions and who are recognized in the credits of the film.

The September 21st premiere, which was sponsored by Acme, the Thirsty Camel, Wild Play and Romper Room, was made successful with great media coverage, the help of a dozen volunteers and the entertainment provided by the talented musicians who donated music to the films soundtrack including Brian Hazelbower, Paul Bezooyen, Terry Mack, Dave Kilbank, Tongue and Groove (Tracy, Myron, Kevin and Brett) and Shane Philip. The event raised over $1200 with proceeds going to The Land Conservancy, the Nanaimo and Area Land Trust and the Mid Island Sustainability & Stewardship Initiative, all organizations with an interest in stewardship of the Nanaimo River.

Thanks again for your support Nanaimo!
