Cathy of Infinite Bliss Yoga offers a love note

Feb 13, 2013

Hello all yogis,

After a great class tonight, flowing and sweating, breathing and being, I am INSPIRED... so I thought I'd write you all a love note (and Valentine's Day is coming up anyway).

"Earth, 114 million years ago, one morning just after sunrise:  The first flower ever to appear on the planet opens up to receive the rays of the sun.  Prior to this momentous event that heralds an evolutionary transformation in the life of plants, the planet had already been covered in vegetation for millions of years.  The first flower probably did not survive for long, and flowers must have remained rare and isolated phenomena, since conditions were most likely not yet favourable for a widespread flowering to occur.  One day, however, a critical threshold was reached, and suddenly there would have been an explosion of colour and scent all over the planet-if a perceiving consciousness had been there to witness it."
- from A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

This quote is exactly why I do yoga.  This concept of a "critical threshold" is why I practice and teach. I truly BELIEVE that if I can cultivate a place of peace and love and kindness in MY heart; that if my intentions, my actions, my words and eventually even all of my thoughts reflect this peace, it will ripple out from me.  I BELIEVEthat this ripple of peace and love will reach my fellow yogis, our families, our friends, our colleagues, ourcommunities and eventually this ripple, through so many open hearts and sun salutations, will reach across ourcountry and the world beyond. I BELIEVE that eventually this ripple, that we have collectively created, will reach so many people that there will be a shift in consciousness.  There will be more people that will not tolerate hate, racism, war, poverty, abuse of power, or the destruction of our environment than those who will.  The collective voice of peace and unity and compassion will be heard above the voice of power and corruption .  I HOPE that this critical threshold is reached in my lifetime.  I HOPE that I have the privilege to stand in awe as I gaze upon a world filled with celebration, vulnerability, tenderness, love and joy.

I am filled with GRATITUDE that I have had the opportunity to connect with each of you.  I am filled with JOY that I had the honour of practicing with each of you.  And I am HUMBLED by the fact that people keep showing up to classes!!!

So Happy Valentine's Day.  Love and namaste (and hugs of course),
