NEW YEAR INSPIRATIONS

 

Many of us this time of year sit down to reevaluate our daily choices and look at making some goals.  The start of a new year is the perfect time to get inspired, however many of us set unattainable goals and end up giving up after a few weeks has past without visible success.  Here are a few basic tools to help ease the transition to a healthier lifestyle without risk of injury or burnout.

 

  • Set more realistic goals – This means setting yourself up for success by being honest with what you can accomplish.  A good example would be to focus on eating one serving of dark leafy greens per day rather than resolving to never eat sweets again.
     
  • In terms of exercise, start with consistency.  Instead of being a weekend warrior and increasing your chance of injury, start slowly, especially if you don’t have a regular exercise regime or are beginning a new activity.  Focus on getting out there a few times a week and look at increasing duration or intensity once it has become a habit.
     
  • Remind yourself of the bigger things in life with your goal-setting.  A good example is looking at dietary changes as a way to increase energy, vitality, and longevity, rather than depriving yourself just because someone said it was good for you.
     
  • Include the small changes – walk to the store, take the stairs, include exercise in family activities, pack your own lunch and snacks to work or school.
     
  • Learn to love the rain!  Many people stop outdoor activities once we hit the rainy season, but let’s be honest, it rains a lot here.  If you are only going to get outside when it’s sunny and warm, then find another activity that you can do indoors (like swimming) or get yourself some decent rain gear and smile through the downpour.

Hehe, well. I wouldn't etlcxay call it baking per say, as it's more of a put the mixture together, add water and butter, and voila! Hehe. But they're yummy! Just sweet enough! *shares some virtual muffins*
