KIDS International Development Society Update

Nov 10, 2010

Dear Friends,

We thought we would let you know that we will be heading off on December 9th for Cambodia and the Burma/Thailand border. Thanks to the kind support already from so many, we will again be able to continue to fund both Somnang House Girl’s Home as well as the Srey Po Village free school in Cambodia. These programs are thriving and the children are growing and learning, their lives are being transformed thanks to you. We will let you know how the children are doing and as always we will provide any new assistance they may need.

We are also hoping to continue to support a number of projects such as: New Hope Education Center and Clinic, Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia and the Agape School and Orphanage on the Burma border. As is our way we will see what is needed when we get there and address and oversee solutions to these needs and keep you informed. We know that things on the Burma border are quite difficult as there are over 6000 children that are without parents in the area we work in. So there is much to be done to improve the living conditions for these dislocated and forgotten migrant children.

We had plans to build a new floating school on the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia. It has recently come to our attention that there is more than one school in need of repairs and re-floating. We will assess the situation on arrival and decide how we can assist the most amount children as efficiently as possible with your generously donated funds. Our goal is to be able to expand, improve and provide decent schools and educational materials for the many hundreds of children in this area, allowing them to learn and play in a healthy and safe environment. The TLC boat clinic continues to provide health and dental care to the people on the lake and we hope to assist them with funds to treat and improve the lives of children and families living in this remote area.

These are some of our hopes for this coming trip and as always there are the unexpected needs that arise as we see the desperate situations some children and families face. We will do our best to respond to these needs. Many of you have asked to be reminded of our upcoming projects and many have already kindly donated for this trip. If you would like to contribute please send your donation to:  K.I.D.S ,  545 Vancouver Ave,  Nanaimo, BC, V9S 4G6 or donate online through the Canada Helps link on our website. www.kidsdevelopmentsociety.org

To all our local friends in Nanaimo, if you have not heard, we have had to cancel our fundraiser due to a health issue that is now on the mend. Your response and caring around this is heart warming. Regrettably we will very much miss your company and the camaraderie of the Wine and Wrap and will definitely be back with it in 2011.

We thank you all deeply for your generosity and support on many levels past, present and future. We wish you and yours much health, prosperity, love and peace.

With Appreciation,

Adrianne and Rick
